FDNY officials are calling a massive junkyard fire in East Flatbush suspicious Friday. The fire began around 7 p.m. Thursday and burned for 15 hours before being extinguished Friday. The blaze sparked on a 20-foot pile of cars and parts waiting to be shredded. Officials say the oil from the compounded vehicles and lack of water hampered efforts. New York City says its 311 hotline has gotten several complaints about smoke from the fire. One man told News 12 Brooklyn that he was able to smell the smoke from the fire at his apartment in Canarsie.
