6h agoThe FDNY has released the 911 call from a late-night rescue Tuesday of five children trapped in the sewer in Staten Island.
The kids entered a storm drain and realized they were lost after roaming around for an hour. They called 911, telling the dispatcher they entered the drain near Clove Lakes Park and had been trapped for about an hour.
The FDNY stayed on the phone with the kids the entire time as first responders worked to find them above and below ground. Fire officials say all five kids were found unharmed thanks to that lifesaving call.
“It was a professional job. Everybody worked hard,” said FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens. “I can’t say enough about everyone who operated here. When we did get them out, it took us 30 minutes after we arrived to find them and get them out of the hole.”
