The FDNY responded to 420 East 169th St. for a fire on the eighth floor of the building. The fire seems to be under control.
A resident who lives on the ninth floor told News 12 she heard the smoke alarm and said when she went to check on her kids, their room was immediately filled with smoke.
It's unclear what started the fire. There are no reports of injuries.
