Members of the FDNY from across the city were honored Wednesday as part of the department's annual Medal Day Ceremony.
During the event, a medal was commemorated in honor of EMS Captain Allison Russo. Russo was killed in an unprovoked attack while on-duty in Queens in September. Russo was an FDNY EMS lieutenant who was posthumously promoted to captain.
The Capt. Allison Russo North Star Medal was presented to Capt. Edgar Baez for his outstanding leadership during the tragic incident.
The William P. Moon II Medal of Life went to Kristin Moon. She's the wife of FDNY Firefighter Billy Moon, who passed away in December during a training exercise in Brooklyn.
The ceremony kicked off at 11 a.m. in Queens.
