FEMA announced its approval Friday of aid to victims of the tornado that hit Brooklyn in August.
Congressman Vito Fossella?s (R-Brooklyn) office said residents can apply for FEMA aid through the FEMA Web site or by calling the agency at 1-800-621-FEMA or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired. A state program will also provide aid.
Aid will be available for homeowners, renters and business owners. Business owners need to file for a federally subsidized loan for damage that insurance companies will not cover.
Fossella said he reached out to state and federal agencies as soon as the tornado touched down.
