The south end branch of the Ferguson Library in Stamford is celebrating Kwanzaa with several events this week.
The library, located at 34 Woodland Ave., marked the second day of Kwanzaa Tuesday with the lighting of the Kujichagulia candle. A documentary narrated by Maya Angelou followed.
There will also be events, including arts and crafts, on Thursday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
"We celebrate Kwanzaa just by teaching the culture," said Josephine Fulcher Anderson, manager of the Ferguson Library south end branch. "I've had the question, do people celebrate Kwanzaa other than African Americans? And the answer is yes. Because we all want unity, especially during these times."
