One-hundred homeless men were sent back into the cold Friday morning after a fire ripped through the Bedford Atlantic Armory.
The Department of Homeless Services says the men were taken to a shelter across the street while firefighters battled the flames. According to fire officials, the men will be able to return back to the armory, however, some of the shelter beds will be moved to another floor.
Meanwhile, some residents are still upset over DHS plans to close a Manhattan homeless shelter and move people to the armory. They say the shelter in the armory already brings enough problems to the neighborhood and they don?t need more people in the facility.
There is no word on whether the fire will delay DHS plans to move people into the armory.
