An early morning fire destroyed a popular eatery in Bushwick and displaced several families.
The flames broke out Monday at 545 Central Ave. before the morning rush at Randy Deli. The fire went unnoticed behind the storefront. Residents in the apartments above the deli had to be evacuated.
The owner of the deli says he?s glad no one was hurt, but he?s devastated that his livelihood was destroyed.
?It was my everything, we came here to work the store, you know,? Bionny Vasquez says. ??we?re going to start it again.?
The Red Cross says 15 children and four adults were displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire officials say there is a possibility it could have started in the air conditioning unit.
