A truck crash sparked a fiery chain reaction on a Brighton Beach street late Tuesday night—leaving several homes without power.
According to Con Edison, a truck hit a utility pole on Banner Avenue between East 11th and East 12th streets around 9:44 p.m. The impact brought down several poles and overhead lines, which caught fire.
Video posted to Citizen App shows flames shooting off the wires as firefighters arrived. The area was taped off, and neighbors watched from the sidewalk as FDNY worked to get things under control.
FDNY says four units and 25 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was under control by around midnight, and the incident was officially closed just after 12:30 a.m.
As of Tuesday morning, 19 Con Edison customers are still without power. Crews remain on site, and electricity is expected to be restored by early this afternoon, though it could come back sooner.
There were no injuries reported.
