A fire at a Greenpoint community newspaper sent tenants fleeing for safety Wednesday.
Fire officials say the fire broke out around 6 a.m. in a row of buildings that include the offices of the Greenpoint Gazette and the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Gazette. The fire occurred on Manhattan Avenue.
Officials say three tenants above the buildings fled for safety. Workers at nearby American United Car Service also fled. A firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the flames.
The building owner is awaiting official word on the cause of the fire, but says it may have been caused by a faulty circuit breaker.
The paper?s owner says they will rebuild, but it?s too soon to tell if it will be at the same location or a different location in Greenpoint.
