? A firefighter died after he fell four stories from a Williamsburg building Thursday, officials confirm.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. at 146 Leonard St. More than 60 firefighters from 12 units responded to the blaze.
Fire officials say 23-year-old Daniel Pujdak, of Queens, was climbing from a cherry picker onto the roof when he lost his footing and fell.
He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with serious head injuries and later died.
Mayor Bloomberg called the incident a terrible tragedy, but said the fire could have been prevented. The fire commissioner said it appeared to have been started when an unattended cigarette was left in a window.
Pujdak is survived by his mother, father and two brothers.
Fire officials say no one else was injured during the fire.
