A firefighter was killed while responding to a building fire Saturday in East Flatbush, according to officials.

First Deputy Fire Commissioner Mark Guerra identified the firefighter as 42-year-old Patrick Brady.

Authorities say he was operating on the roof when he suffered a medical episode and went into cardiac arrest.

Brady was an 11 year veteran of the department.
