Firefighters have extinguished an underground fire in Morrisania, but it is still causing some problems in the area.
Con Edison workers are checking underground wires that caught fire around 2:15 p.m. at East 163rd Street between Trinity and Tinton avenues.
Officials say construction workers hit electric wires, sparking the fire. The FDNY and Con Edison are investigating.
There were no reported injuries or power outages, but for a brief time, police were not letting residents inside 750 E. 163rd St. for safety reasons.
