The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has announced the winner of the annual Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest.
East 25th Street between Avenue D and Clarendon Street in Flatbush won the 2023 contest. This is the block's fifth time winning in the annual event's 30-plus year history.
The block is covered in colorful flowers and healthy green trees backed by a community effort. Officials say each home worked to keep their property in pristine condition while offering a helping hand to each other.
News 12 had a chance to speak with the homeowners who made it all happen, including one who said she spends between four and five hours a day gardening.
More than 119 blocks from across the borough were in the running. Brooklyn Botanic Garden holds the contest to promote city greening, clean streetscapes and togetherness.
