Tenants at 1111 Ocean Ave. in Flatbush say their building has turned into a nightmare in recent years.

These residents say that for years, the building has had problems ranging from leaky pipes to broken elevators. They’ve been on a rent strike for almost four years, according to tenant Rita Kettles.

The Flatbush Tenant Association shared a video with News 12 that shows a ceiling collapsing in one of the building’s apartments – in a child’s bedroom.

News 12 has reached out to the building owners regarding these conditions and is awaiting a response.

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development tells News 12 that “these tenants should continue to file complaints with 311 whenever conditions are not being addressed by the landlord and they will inspect and issue violations as necessary.”
