A Bronx resident has been forced out of her home after a pipe on her street burst and caused major flooding full of human excrement to fill the basement of her house.
The homeowner told News 12 that the company that caused the flooding is the same company the city told her would fix it.
Inches of water full of human waste have been flooding Van Nguyen's home for over a month. It's an issue she says began after construction started on her block.
"It smells terrible because all of the sewage is coming back up. The entire wall and Sheetrock is going to have to be replaced. All the furniture is going to have to be replaced. It's going to cost a lot of money," Nguyen says.
Nguyen says she has been displaced from her home and had thousands of dollars' worth of furniture and personal items ruined. She says the unsanitary flooding has affected her life in every way.
After filing multiple complaints with the city, Nguyen says she was told it's the homeowner's issue to fix. She's already spent over $2,000 on plumbers who she says told her, "Ma'am what do you want? A miracle? Unfortunately, we don't have one."
While Nguyen says the flooding in her home seems to be the most extreme case that anybody on the block has seen, she's not the only person impacted. Jackswa Cabrera, who lives next door, says there is human excrement all over his house.
News 12 reached out to CAC, the licensed contractors Nyguen says were hired by the city to fix the flooding, for a statement and has not received a response yet.
