One food pantry in Bensonhurst is using new technology in its fight against hunger.
The Reaching Out Community Services food pantry is implementing a new system which allows users to choose the food they need by touch screen, and even remembers their special diets.
The system also saves time. Previously, when clients came in to choose their foods, it could take up to 15 minutes. Reaching Out says that wait time is now down to three minutes with the digital food system.
The food pantry says the system is not only helping them to save time, but money as well - especially when it comes to restocking the shelves.
