Over one million eggs were donated to a food pantry that aims to feed hundreds of thousands of hungry New Yorkers.

Passover is just 12 days away, and the Flatbush Community Fund held a food distribution drive with boxes of kosher food filled up for families to get what they need for the holiday. The boxes contain everything from chicken and canned goods to juices and eggs donated by Deb El Food Products.

This food drive is one of 250 Passover food giveaways that is sponsored by the Met Council on Jewish Poverty. Participants made reservations online so they could just drive by to get their boxes.

“We procure and provide those specialty items to make sure no one has to choose between celebrating the holiday and their faith and having enough money to buy food,” said one member of the Met Council.

There will be another 20 to 30 of these giveaways in the coming days, with one taking place this Sunday at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
