A former graphic artist is using his talents and experience to highlight the borough. Bronx resident Michael Mendel designed hundreds of famous album covers for Columbia Records and other companies. Having lost his job, however, he now photographs local sites and turns them into watercolor paintings. Mendel says he is inspired by nature, as well as undeveloped areas such as the Metro-North tracks. He hopes to have his artwork on display in galleries soon.
