Fort Hamilton officially welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Eva Commons as the army base's new senior enlisted advisor.
"It's a great honor a great responsibility. I’m very excited and it's a very rewarding work and I’m looking forward to doing a great job in supporting these personnel," said Commons.
Commons' responsibilities include making sure there are correct standards and practices in place, overseeing staff, and assisting the commander in visits and military-based ceremonies.
Commons says the first thing on her agenda is quality child care on base so parents in the Army can assume their responsibilities with peace of mind knowing their child is safe.
"Child care is expensive here in New York, so the facilities that are offered here on the insulation are very reasonably priced and very good quality facilities. I want to make sure we're taking care of the children of soldiers,” said Commons.
