Some schools around the borough bused students to select theaters to view the critically acclaimed film "Selma," which portrays the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Movie tickets for the seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders were paid for by a fund organized by African-American business leaders.
The historical drama depicts the campaign leading up to King's historic 54-mile march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
Cobble Hill Cinemas in Brownsville showed the movie to more than 100 students Monday.
A total of 27,000 New York City students will be treated to the film.
