A once-bare wall in Brownsville has now been transformed into a large and vibrant outdoor canvas.
The 20-foot by 120-foot mural is located at Watkins Street and Belmont Avenue. It's called "Straight Outta Nowhere" and was created by French artist Zeso. He says he wanted the images to be large so they could grab people's attention and draw them closer into his painting.
It was created using a "freestyle" method where the artist paints from the flow of his imagination. The goal is to add art and character to neighborhoods.
The painting was commissioned by Writing on the Walls, a Brownsville-based art initiative. So far there are 12 murals in the neighborhood with hopes to add more.
