Friends of Firefighters host annual gala for active and former firefighters

A nonprofit that supports active and retired firefighters' mental health needs hosted their annual gala on Thursday night.
Staff from Friends of Firefighters say that in the last five years, they have seen an over 200% increase in the amount of counseling sessions that are needed for active and retired firefighters and their families.
Members of New York's Bravest took the red carpet, with several being honored for their courage and leadership. Hundreds filled the room at the gala at Pioneer Works, vowing to support the organization for years to come.
Friends of Firefighters say they are on pace to host 4,800 counseling sessions this year alone.
