Authorities have identified the man who jumped off the Bronx Zoo monorail today into the tiger pit as 25-year-old David Villalobos, of Mahopac in Putnam County.
Villalobos suffered puncture wounds to his body and leg after a tiger attacked him, according to officials. They add that Villalobos was alone with the tiger for about 10 minutes until zookeepers could help him and secure the tiger.
Friends of Villalobos say that he is a good guy and is in tune with his spirituality.
Villalobos' sister says she and the rest of the family are currently with David at Jacobi Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition.
