A restaurant in East New York is serving up food that can satisfy two cravings at once.
Fusion East serves dishes that combine soul food with Caribbean food.
The restaurant's owner, Andrew Walcott, says he tailored the menu's selections to reflect the surrounding community.
"We want to satisfy that niche for the black American and black Caribbean crowd that is a demographic of this neighborhood," he says.
Walcott says the goal of the restaurant is to transform the East New York neighborhood as a whole.
"We're trying to create a renaissance here in the East New York area, to rebrand East New York, not from the way it was back in the 80s or 90s, but to create a new picture for East New York going forward," he says.
