The longest running coffee roaster and importer in North America has its home in Brooklyn.
Gillies Coffee was founded by the Gillies family 1840. Current owner Donald Schoenholt's family has owned it since the 1940s, and it moved to Brooklyn 23 years ago.
The company hand roasts about 1 million pounds of coffee a year. Its customers are chefs and restaurant owners, including some in Brooklyn.
