Construction on the Fulton Mall Streetscape Revitalization begins on Thursday, and the streets surrounding the Fulton Mall will soon have new benches, plants and trees.
"With new street trees, tree pits and seating on the way to Fulton Street, Downtown Brooklyn is about to get even more beautiful," said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue.
The $8 million project is an effort between the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and City Parks Department.
The upgrade is part of a larger $40 million city project aimed to improve pedestrian and roadway safety in the area.
Work will start on Fulton Street between Boerum Place and Jay Street. The project is slated to be completed by 2025.
