Funeral held for Nassau officer who died from COVID-19

Police say Officer Charles “Chuck” Vroom contracted the virus while he was on duty.

Friends and family said their final farewell to a Nassau officer who died from COVID-19.
A funeral was held this morning for Officer Charles “Chuck” Vroom in Miller Place.
Police say 52-year-old Officer Vroom contracted the virus while he was on duty. He was a part of the department’s 3rd Precinct for 17 years.
Officials say because of his service to the community, Vroom was posthumously promoted to the rank of detective.
Vroom is survived by his son Sean.
