Mayor Bill de Blasio announced some big changes during his State of the City address Thursday that would have an impact on commuters.

The mayor announced a plan that would bring a ferry stop to Coney Island in the next few years.

Daniel Ioannou, a ferry advocate, says if there was ever a neighborhood that needs ferry service, it's Coney Island. Since 2017, he's led a petition on social media, begging city officials for a ferry stop.

“Our petition has over 2,500 signatures, asking, ‘When are we getting ferry service?’ and today, we got it,” he says.

Councilman Mark Treyger says it will cut the time to commute into the city in half.

“Today is a tremendous day, a game-changing day for Coney Island and Southern Brooklyn,” says the councilman.
