A GoFundMe has been set up for the children of a Town of Greenburgh Police dispatcher who died from COVID-19.
Frank Cavaliere spent 29 years on the job and would pick up extra shifts from his sick coworkers during the Omicron surge.
Covering those shifts led to the Hopewell Junction man's confirmed case of COVID-19 amid the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant, which landed him in the hospital on a ventilator.
Cavaliere, who was not vaccinated, died Feb. 5., less than two years shy of retirement. His wife Lisa Cavaliere is now encouraging others to get vaccinated as the new variant spreads.
"Not in a million years would I think that he fell into that 1% or 2% of people that die because of COVID because he was healthy, and this is why people we need to get vaccinated. We need to social distance," she says.
Those who would like to donate can visit the GoFundMe page.
