GoFundMe page has raised tens of thousands of dollars to help the family of a Hudson Valley first responder whose toddler has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Cillian McNamee, 3, was recently diagnosed with advanced stage neuroblastoma, which is a cancer affecting the nervous system.
His dad, Richard McNamee, is an assistant chief for the New Paltz Rescue Squad in Ulster County and is a paramedic for Mobile Life.
Cillian's uncle, Michael, started the fundraiser after giving his brother his life savings to help his family with expenses while Cillian is in the hospital.
"Really, they can't bring words to it. My brother, who is not a very emotional person, has been more emotional on the phone with me over the last week," says Michael McNamee, of Walden.
McNamee says the boy has multiple tumors and is beginning radiation and clinical trials at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, where the boy's dad and mom remain by his side.
