The Birth in Heaven Foundation hosted the fifth annual Pregnancy and Infant Loss Walkathon Saturday in Marine Park in honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Families came together to uplift and honor their late children who died as an infant or before being born.
Co-founders of the Birth in Heaven Foundation told News 12 that the walk was needed in the community.
“Sometimes it’s better to make a good thing out of something bad,” said an organizer. “I’ve lost five pregnancies, and it was really tough, but this has brought me closer with women who are also going along with the grieving process of losing a child.”
The foundation says they plan to hold this walk every year to show mothers who experienced pregnancy and infant loss that they are not alone.
