Gov. Cuomo declines to
extend bar and restaurant COVID-19 curfew for Super Bowl
New York City residents looking to watch the
Super Bowl at a local bar and restaurant will likely be kicked out before the
big game ends.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is not extending the restaurant curfew, which calls for
eateries to close at 10 p.m.
The New York State Restaurant Association asked Cuomo to loosen restrictions
and allow limited indoor dining in the city, but those restrictions will still
be in effect until Valentine’s Day.
Despite recommendations from medical experts, people are still expected to
gather for the Super Bowl.
The New York state police say they plan to crack down on impaired and reckless
driving with checkpoints to deter and arrest impaired drivers.
Restaurants in the city may also be hampered by the weather with several inches
of snow expected in the boroughs.
