Gov. Andrew Cuomo held a press conference in downtown Brooklyn Friday to discuss the challenges the city will face during a five-year, $29 billion plan to restore New York City's aging transit system. 

In addition to new subway cars and improved tracks, Cuomo says the plan includes access to Wi-Fi and improved cellphone service. 

Thirty stations will be completely overhauled. In the Spring, the city will launch a digital pay system, which will give commuters the ability to use smartphones or bank cards for any transit purchase at select rail line locations like the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North. Eventually, the plan intends to expand the digital pay services to all subway and bus systems.

The governor says all 278 subway stations in the city will have Wi-Fi by the end of 2016.

The city hopes to complete most of the upgrades by 2018.
