The federal government has approved Gov. Kathy Hochul's request for a major disaster declaration for communities impacted by flooding and heavy rain.
The plan includes funds and assistance with debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.
The state now has funds to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in Kings, Nassau and Westchester counties.
