Gov. Kathy Hochul is sharing how she plans to transform the mental health care system for children in New York.
Gov. Hochul says $50 million is now available for community based facilities to expand coverage including beds, structural additions and whatever else is needed to help kids. She also mentioned hospitals will be required to screen people for mental health conditions before discharge.
When it comes to therapy in schools, Hochul says they are working to help all schools at how it can be done.
Hochul highlighted social media's role when it comes to mental health and how those platforms need to be held accountable along with Congress regulation.
She cites the New York City Children's Center in the Bronx as the leading example when it comes to mental health.
