Gov. Kathy Hochul is set to travel to Manhattan on Tuesday to meet with key leaders following the resignation of four deputy mayors.
Four deputy mayors resigned Sunday from the Adams team: Maria Torres-Springer, Anne Williams-Isom, Meera Joshi and Chauncey Parker.
Three of the deputy mayors released a joint statement that said in part:
"Due to the extraordinary events of the last few weeks and to stay faithful to the oaths we swore to New Yorkers and our families, we have come to the difficult decision to step down from our roles."
This comes after the Department of Justice announced its intention to toss the corruption case against Eric Adams.
With mounting calls for Adams to resign from both New Yorkers and local elected officials, the pressure is on the governor.
Hochul is the only state official with the power to remove Adams from office.
Ahead of her Manhattan visit, she released a statement that said in part:
"The alleged conduct at City Hall that has been reported over the past two weeks is troubling and cannot be ignored... I have asked key leaders to meet me at my Manhattan office for a conversation about the path forward..."
