The governor is proposing a plan to end insurance co-pays for insulin, which her office says could save New Yorkers $14 million in 2025 alone.

Gov. Kathy Hochul was in New York City Tuesday to unveil her first proposal of the 2024 State of the State. It includes the Consumer Protection and Affordability Agenda.

The governor says she doesn't want people to be faced with financial ruin if they have a chronic illness. Under the agenda, she is proposing a plan to end insurance co-pays for insulin, which her office says could save New Yorkers $14 million in 2025 alone.

Also on the agenda, expanding New York's Consumer Protection Law for the first time in more than 40 years.

Hochul is also proposing an increase to paid medical and disability leave benefits.
