Immigration activists rallied Wednesday at Grand Army Plaza to call for the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

It was the third of four scheduled rallies as part of a weeklong campaign calling for the end of the agency. The first was directed at Mayor Bill de Blasio, and the second targeted Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Wednesday's rally focused on U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.

The protesters say they want Schumer to join their call for the ICE's abolition. But Schumer won't go that far, according to published reports, saying that he cites ICE's role in fighting drug and human trafficking.

Activists demurred when asked if they would settle for reforms at ICE, saying they would rather tear it all down and create something new. They acknowledge that what they're calling for might be a stretch in the short term, but they say they're confident their voices will be heard.
