Some Grand Concourse residents are hoping to soon see a change along E. 172nd Street when it comes to clearing out abandoned, double-parked vehicles and litter.

A neighbor who didn't want to share her identity contacted News 12 about the issue.

"I've lived here for over 20 years, and it's just getting worse. Specifically, this street. This dead-end street," she said.

While visiting the area on Wednesday, News 12 did notice a couple of vehicles with no license plates or expired 30-day tags.

The anonymous neighbor said this has become normal.

"You know, a phony plate. You can see a lot of cars with no plates around here, and they just sitting here, you know, taking up parking space and parking is needed in this area," she continued.

She said despite making 311 complaints, no improvements have been made, and that a white commercial truck has been parked along the street without license plates for roughly two years.

"The owner is around here because he moves it back and forth. The police come, look and leave. No ticket agents come, ever. It would be nice if the city marshals could come and start booting these cars and get them off the street," she shared.

The viewer also shared that the Department of Sanitation has not been able to perform street cleanings due to the congestion and double-parked cars.

News 12 emailed the Department of Sanitation, Department of Transportation and NYPD about the issue.

A spokesperson for the city's Department of Transportation said they are not involved in this matter.

Joshua Goodman, deputy commissioner of Public Affairs and Customer Experience for the NYC Department of Sanitation, tells News 12 that the department is actively investigating the area.
