Windy weather whipped up damage in Gravesend Saturday, but homeowners are blaming the city instead of Mother Nature.
Jaime Tirone-Gamez says gusty winds knocked down branches near her Van Sicklen Avenue house, damaging her gate and walkway. Theresa Altilio claims the branches destroyed $300 worth of plants in her yard. Residents also say branches frequently fall on cars. Neighbors blame the Parks Department. They claim trees on the block haven?t been pruned in 10 years.
The city earlier responded to a complaint letter from a lawmaker, saying although the trees had low branches, they were in good condition. The Parks Department says it will send out inspectors to assess post-storm damage. Brooklyn residents should call 311 to report downed trees and branches.
