Great Neck Plaza synagogue closed after fire less than a week before Passover
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A Nassau County synagogue was forced to close less than a week before the start of Passover after a fire on Wednesday night.
Nassau County fire officials said the fire started a little before 9 p.m. at Ahavat Shalom Synagogue at 130 Cutter Mill Rd. in Great Neck Plaza.
Roughly 75 firefighters from Great Neck Vigilant, Great Neck Alerts, Manhasset Lakeville and New Hyde Park fire departments responded.
Fire officials said firefighters were immediately met with heavy smoke inside the two-story building.
Everyone inside was able to exit on their own, and no one was injured, according to investigators.
Nassau County fire officials ordered the synagogue to close due to fire and smoke damage inside. It's unclear when it could reopen.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office and Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
Passover begins at sundown on April 1.
