It took more than a full day, but crews were able to get the Greenpoint Warehouse Terminal fire under control Wednesday. The 10-alarm blaze destroyed seven warehouses within the complex and 14 firefighters suffered minor injuries. Crews spent much of Wednesday knocking down building walls and spraying the remaining flames. Work crews are now sifting through rubble as firefighters follow behind. The Department of Environmental Protection says the cloud of smoke covering the Brooklyn waterfront is not toxic. Arson is suspected and fire marshals are interviewing neighbors to see if there are any witnesses who saw how the fire began. Related Information
