Grief counselors were on hand at the UFT Charter School today in East New York after a fifth-grader suffered a fatal heart attack. Hospital officials say the heart attack was brought on by a non-contagious form of viral meningitis. The child had not been in school since the first week of April. The disease is found mostly in children, with symptoms including fever, headache, stiff neck and fatigue. School officials say they contacted the city's Department of Healthy and were assured there is no public health risk.
