A Brooklyn mother Thursday mourned the loss of her 16-year-old son after he was fatally shot in the streets of Bed-Stuy.
Justin Delapara, 17, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon after police say he fatally gunned down 16-year-old Latrell Brown Wednesday.
The incident happened in front of 481 Macon St. around 2 p.m.
Brown’s mother Michelle tells News 12 it just isn’t fair.
“I’m not supposed to be burying my son,” she says. “He was going to bury me.”
She says her son, a JV basketball player, was in love with the court earning the nickname ‘Taz’ for his quick speed while playing.
Police responded to the area and found Latrell unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was transported to Kings County Hospital where he later died.
Surveillance video from a restaurant shows Delapara shooting a gun before running down the street.
Police say they believe the two teens were having a dispute before the shooting.
