Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new river walk at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park.
The 2.5-acre stretch will run along the Passaic River to the West Broadway Bridge. This area used to be home to several factories.
"Where there was never a park, a new one will soon welcome thousands of visitors in a place that preserves the remnants of the past but also allows for recreation and resting,” says Park Superintendent Darren Boch.
The project will cost almost $8 million. It is being funded by the National Park Service and the Green Acres Open Space Program.
