A large intersection in Brooklyn may soon be renovated, but some are still concerned that it won't become safer for pedestrians.
Members of the group Transportation Alternatives joined local elected officials Saturday at the Times Plaza near Barclays Center at the intersection of Flatbush, Atlantic and Fourth avenues to bring awareness to safety concerns stemming from the renovation.
The group says the city's Department of Transportation has a proposal to redesign Times Plaza to make it look nicer, but the group says the agency is neglecting to make the intersection safer.
Transportation Alternatives says they are not opposed to the redesign, but say they hope that by sending a letter to the DOT, they will make sure that safety comes first.
A DOT spokesperson told News 12 the agency is aware of the challenges the intersection poses and is planning improvements for the area.
