Multimillion-dollar renovations are coming to a park in Clason Point for the first time since it opened in 1993.
More than $11 million will fund upgrades at Harding Park, thanks to the City Council and mayor's office.
Changes are expected to include new play equipment, spray showers, basketball courts, seating, lighting and more. Those behind the funding, including new City Council Majority Leader Amanda Farias, say it's about preserving and maintaining safe spaces for kids in our communities, while investing in neighborhoods that are often overlooked.
Farias worked to secure $6.5 million from the City Council, while the remaining $4.9 million is coming from the mayor's office.
NYC Parks Department officials say they will schedule community input meetings in the coming months to hear directly from neighbors, as they work to finalize designs.
