As the Big Apple prepared for a second nor'easter in less than a week, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning and city officials suspended alternate side parking for Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecasts show up to a foot of snow Wednesday, so residents prepared for the cleanup in advance.
"I would just stay home and weather the storm," joked Jason Lalima, of Marine Park, who added that he may stay home from work if the commute looks too hazardous.
At Brooklyn's Best, a hardware store on Avenue N, shoppers stocked up on windshield wiper fluid, shovels and ice melt.
Shop owner Alan Butrico said he put two extra employees on because he expects a lot of business.
On a normal day, he said he sells about 20 bags of salt. When there's a storm coming, that number blows up to about 1,500.
He increased his supply by roughly four times to meet the demand, he said.
"We never run out of salt," Butrico said. "We always have calcium."
He also extended his business hours Tuesday for customers who work late themselves.
News 12 meteorologists say the storm could bring 5 to 10 inches to most of the city and as much as 8 to 12 inches in the north and west. Authorities say residents should plan for power outages and travel delays.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 4 a.m. Thursday.
