The hot and hazy weather is having New Yorkers find a way to stay cool, and that includes
heading to the beach. Beach goers should keep these tips in mind before swimming in those waters.
When the beaches open at 10 a.m., make sure a lifeguard is on duty before hopping into the water.
The New York City Parks Department also wants to remind swimmers not all areas of the beach are open for swimming. Closed sections will be marked with signs and flags.
Lifeguards are on duty through 6 p.m., and they say to not swim in areas with no lifeguard on duty.
